Castlewellan Show 2018 Launch

Castlewellan Agricultural Show launched their 51st show with a press & sponsors evening held in the most beautiful Castlewellan Castle, which over looks the showgrounds in the forest park. Guests were welcomed by Show Chairperson Fiona Patterson when she thanked all show sponsors for their continued support, in particular our gold sponsor EDA Media Ltd. Then Show patron Karen Patterson fully accustom to speaking, expressed the importance of sponsors and volunteers to the success of our show, Castlewellan is the best one day show in Northern Ireland and it caters for the entire community.

Show Secretary Jackie Fitzpatrick finished the by giving a detailed report on the years activities and what new attractions would be there on show day this year. We are delighted to welcome the Danske Bank NISA Sheep champion final back to Castlewellan after a lengthly absence, Beef Calf championship, we are also hosting the ISA Young home Cook championship qualifer in our gourmet food Marquee this year, if you are a whizz in the kitchen then you should enter - www.ISA.ie or contact our show office. We are hosting a local cross community choir to entertain us in our main arena, as-well as sheepdog
displays, our host of livestock, home Industries, Dog Agility, Vintage displays, Model Farm exhibitions and our ever popular Craft marquee which has been sold out from March.


Mr William Brown presented a cup for Floral Art on behalf of his daughter Mrs Lorraine Bothwell in Memory of her Aunt and his Sister, Mrs Sadie Brown who exhibited for a lifetime in Home Industries. Mr Brown said a few words in which he told our guests ‘competition is good beacuse if there was no competition, nothing would ever change’ Thank you to Mr Andrew Foreston and his staff for the use of their beautiful castle.
